Learning Communities

Welcome again to the Class of 2012

We now invite you to learn about one of our most thriving student success programs yet - Learning Communities (LCs) for first-year students.  Students in these communities will live together, take classes together and be guided by an upperclass student who is dedicated to their academic success.

This guide will help you find the LCs in which you are interested. The description for each LC (Download Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF, new window) includes the courses (Download Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF, new window) comprising the LC, the class times, the instructors and the residential hall for the LC.

For additional help in choosing an LC, be sure to read the FAQ section, which answers questions in more detail.

Most of our LCs work well for all majors, because they satisfy two course requirements in our Liberal Learning Core. Some LCs are especially good options for students interested in specific majors, from biology to business, history and beyond. If you are considering one of these majors, we strongly encourage you to select one of the "themed" LCs. If you are uncertain as to which LCs to request, please don't hesitate to contact us at lc@cnu.edu or (757) 594-8848. And remember, all of these courses satisfy the graduation requirement of CNU, so there are no bad choices!

Assignment will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, so choose quickly and let us know of your decision. Selection of the LCs which interest you is done as part of the Setting Sail reservation process, which you can start by clicking the link to the left. Please be sure to make your reservation by May 1.
