ASSISTANT
REGISTRAR
A Master’s Degree in Higher Education
Administration, Student Personnel Services, Business, or a related area of
specialization is preferred, as this position will be heavily involved with
leadership and the faculty community.
The successful candidate must have experience in staff supervision,
training, and development; demonstrated increasingly responsible managerial
experience working in higher education administration; evidence of excellent
written and oral communication skills knowledge of federal laws as they apply
to student records and the ability to understand and represent the University
as well as state and federal regulations and to balance them against the
interest and entitlements of individual students; knowledge of relational
databases; knowledge of FERPA; knowledge and understanding of academic rules
and regulations; excellent interpersonal and consensus building collaboration
skills; demonstrated leadership abilities; presentation and team-building
skills; excellent customer service philosophy/skills; demonstrated skills in
the interpretation and application of rules, regulations, and formulas; and
organizational skills necessary to manage tasks, delegate heavy workloads, and
pursue multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preference will be given to candidates with
knowledge of Banner Student Records system; prior supervision of professional
and/or support staff; knowledge of Virginia laws as they apply to student
records; three years of increasingly responsible managerial experience in
enrollment and student services functional area(s); demonstrated experience
with Microsoft Access; knowledge of academic eligibility rules and procedures
of the University and the NCAA.
