DIRECTOR OF MAJOR AND PLANNED GIVING

Christopher Newport University invites applications to fill the position of Director of Major and Planned Giving.  Reporting to the Director of Development, this position will provide outstanding leadership, management, and support to strengthen the University by increasing major and planned giving.  The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, personally solicit, and close major and planned gifts from current and prospective donors.    

 

A Master’s degree in an appropriate field or a Bachelor’s degree and significant work experience at a level that equates to an advance degree is required.  The successful candidate will have extensive development experience; excellent communication skills; knowledge of estate planning and charitable tax law, and the ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a team environment.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong, successful track records soliciting and closing major, leadership, and planned gifts; successful development experience in higher education; and marketing experience.

The anticipated compensation range for the position is low to mid 60s, commensurate with experience, and with an excellent benefits package.
