Background: As stated in CNU Vision 2010, "The Faculty will be a respected body of teacher-scholars, committed to the values of Christopher Newport University. In their commitment to the University, members of the faculty will possess broad academic interest and a primary academic expertise which foster their participation in an interdisciplinary university curriculum. The faculty will be inspired, rigorous and creative teachers, with the University and its students at the center of their professional lives.
