Disability Services Testing Procedures
***Students are not eligible for testing accommodations unless they have presented official documentation ot the Disability Services office that indicates this is an appropriate accommodation. An "accommodation letter" from Disability Services will be issued to students to give to their professors indicating what accommodations are needed.
HOURS OF OPERATION FOR TESTING:
Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Disability Services has limited resources for testing accommodations. Testing accommodations are for students who need extra time to complete a test or need a distraction-reduced setting and have not been able to make arrangements with their professor. To ensure availability of a testing room, the following procedures have been established:
1. Discuss testing accomodations with your professor when you deliver your accommodation letters. Ask your professor if space can be provided in the department for you to take the test. Contact your professor for all testing arrangements well in advance for each test/quiz.
2. The Academic Advising and Disability Support Services Center will do everything they can to provide accommodations, but it is the professor's responsibility to help the student.
3. If your professor can not provide space or time, please contact the Academic Advising and Disability Support Services Center 1 week (7 days) prior to the test time. To reserve space for testing, please call: (757) 594-8852 or stop by our office in McMurran Annex 101L.
All tests should be scheduled at the same time as if you were taking the test in the classroom. Exceptions would include back-to-back classes or an evening class which would inhibit the extended time accommodation. Special arrangments will be considered on an individual basis with the permission from the professor.
5. "Walk-Ins" on test day will NOT be accommodated. It is your responsibility to make testing reservations 1 week (7 days) in advance.
6. Final exam testing space is limited; if accommodations are needed, you should schedule your exams at least two weeks (at least 14 days) in advance to secure testing space with Disability Support Services.
