Blasingame Ranked No. 1 In Blocks, Several Other Men's And Women's Basketball Players Ranked Nationally

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Christopher Newport men's basketball player Mark Blasingame currently leads the nation in blocked shots in the latest NCAA stats released Wednesday.

Blasingame is averaging 3.7 blocks per game and has totaled 59 through Saturday's game against Ferrum. He blocked seven more shots Tuesday in the Captains win over Averett. As a team, CNU is second in the country in blocks per game, swatting 6.4 per contest.

Also ranked nationally is teammate Davon Barton. Barton is currently third in the nation in assists per game through this weekend's games averaging 8.3 per contest. Barton has dished out 142 assists through Tuesday's game. As a team, the Captains are ranked 11th in assists per game, dealing out 18 per game.

On the women's side, Dee Luck is sixth in the nation in blocked shots, averaging 3.1 per game and totaling 44 blocks in 14 games. As a team, the Lady Captains are third in the country in blocks per game, averaging 7.1 per contest through this weekend's games.
