Baseball Picked To Finish Second In USA South Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's baseball team was picked to finish second in the 2005 USA South Preseason poll voted on by the coaches.

The poll, released Thursday, saw Methodist grab the top spot with 34 points and four first place votes. The Captains received three first place votes and 32 points. Ferrum was picked to finish third, followed by Greensboro fourth, NC Wesleyan fifth, Shenandoah sixth and Averett seventh.

CNU finished 2004 with a record of 25-16 overall and 14-7 in the USA South. The Captains lost to eventual tournament champions Methodist on day two of the USA South Conference Tournament.
