Women's Lacrosse Wins Third In A Row, Upends Sweet Briar, 16-2

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team won its third in a row Sunday as the Lady Captains scored 11 times in the first half to defeat Sweet Briar, 16-2.

CNU dominated every statistical category, including out shooting the Vixens 35-8. The Lady Captains also had 15 ground balls compared to SBC's eight.

Christopher Newport was paced by Kristen Conques five goals and one assist. Shayna Sargent scored twice while Lisa Thomson and Kristyn Hankins each added two scores and one helper.

Bonnie Hansen, Katie Doherty, Natalie Gilbert and Christine Mike each had one goal and one assist in the win. Kylene Jennings scored once and Brooke Falck finished with one assist.

Theresa Sparks played the first 45:35 in goal and had five saves while Gayle Robinson played the remainder of the time and made one save.

Sweet Briar falls to 0-3 while the Lady Captains improve to 3-1.

CNU heads to the island of St. Croix this week where they will play Mary Washington on Wednesday at 9 am.
