Women's Lacrosse Advances To USA South Championship, Rolls Past Shenandoah, 21-3
BURLINGTON, NC - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team is back in the USA South Championship with a 21-3 win over Shenandoah in a semifinal contest Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Captains scored 10 goals in the first half and added 11 more in the second stanza. CNU limited the Hornets to two goals in the opening stanza and one more in the second.
Shayna Sargent paced Christopher Newport offensively with four goals and two assists. Katie Doherty added four goals and one helper. Kristen Conques finished with three goals and three assists while Bonnie Hansen finished with three goals and two assists.
Natalie Gilbert and Lisa Thomson each had two goals. Kristyn Hankins contributed one goal and three assists, Christine Mike added one goal and one assist while Holli Sawyer had one goal and Kylene Jennings assisted on another.
The Lady Captains out-shot Shenandoah 47-12. Theresa Sparks had five saves in the win.
Christopher Newport improves to 10-4 overall and will meet Greensboro in the USA South title game slated for Sunday at 1 pm.
