Women's Lacrosse To Play At Roanoke In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse team will play at Roanoke College on Wednesday at 3 pm in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday night.

The Lady Captains concluded the regular season with an overall record of 12-4 and finished a perfect 6-0 in the USA South. CNU's 12 wins set a new program record, eclipsing the team's 11 wins in 2006.

Christopher Newport captured the USA South Tournament title by virtue of its No. 1 seeding. The Lady Captains championship match against Greensboro was rained out.

CNU and the Maroons were set to meet during the regular season this year but saw its match cancelled due to scheduling reasons. The two will meet in the first round on Wednesday with the winner heading to Franklin & Marshall for a second round game on May 12 at 2 pm.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults and general admission and $2 from students, senior citizens and children under 12. Christopher Newport will also broadcast the game live on Captains Sports Live.
