Men's Soccer Picked To Finish Second In USA South Presason Poll
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's men's soccer team was picked to finish second in the 2007 USA South preseason poll released by the conference Wednesday.
NC Wesleyan was chosen to finish first in the coaches' poll The Bishops received four of seven first place votes for 33 points.
The Captains captured the regular season title in 2006 and received two first place votes for 31 points. CNU was 15-5-2 last year and was one of three USA South teams to earn a bid into the NCAA Tournament. Christopher Newport won its first round game over Chestnut Hill before falling in the second round at Johns Hopkins.
CNU opens the 2007 campaign on Friday, August 31 as they host Eastern Mennonite on day one of the VCAM/CNU Classic with start time set for 7:30 pm.
