21st-Ranked Johns Hopkins Downs Men's Tennis, 7-2

BALTIMORE, MD - Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad fell 7-2 at No. 21 Johns Hopkins Sunday afternoon at an indoor facility.

The Blue Jays are also the 4th-ranked squad in the Atlantic South while the Captains are ranked 12th.

In doubles action, No. 8 (Atlantic South) Eddie Glidewell and John Mook (CNU) defeated Matt Naftilan and Peter Vale 8-4 at No. 1; No. 4 Hillen Smith and Joe Vasoontara defeated John Braig and Steve Myers 8-1 (CNU); David Maldow and Rafael Roberti defeated David Weiner and Dylan Young (CNU) 8-6 at No. 3.

In singles competition, No. 17 Glidewell (CNU) defeated Vasoontara 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4); No. 4 Maldow defeated No. 15 Mook (CNU) 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2; Larry Wei defeated Braig 6-1, 6-1; David Myers defeated Young (CNU) 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4; Roberti defeated Myers (CNU) 6-0, 6-0; and Vale defeated Weiner 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Captains fall to 5-1 on the year while JHU improves to 3-1. CNU returns to action this Saturday as they host Ferrum at 9 am and Roanoke at 4 pm on the CNU Courts.
