Men's Tennis Falls To Salisbury, 6-3

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad dropped a 6-3 decision to the Atlantic South's No. 8 team, Salisbury, Sunday afternoon on the CNU Courts.

In doubles action, No. 8 (Atlantic South) Eddie Glidewell and John Mook (CNU) defeated No. 6 Brendan Kincaid and Matt Nicholson 9-8 (9-7) at No. 1; Evan Thomas and Scott Burtlaff defeated John Braig and Steve Myers (CNU) 9-7; David Weiner and Dylan Young (CNU) defeated Sasha Felikson and Sean Larson 8-5 at No. 3.

In singles play, No. 14 Nicholson defeated No. 17 Glidewell (CNU) 1-6, 6-1, 6-4; No. 15 Mook (CNU) defeated Kincaid 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2; Burtzlaff defeated Braig (CNU) 6-0, 6-1; Thomas defeated Young (CNU) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4; Felikson defeated Myers 6-0, 4-6, 6-4; Larson defeated Weiner (CNU) 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.

Mook and Glidewell overcame two match points to defeat the Atlantic South's sixth-ranked doubles squad. In singles, Mook avenged a loss from two years ago defeating Kincaid in straight sets.

The match came down to a pair of third sets. Felikson clinched the win for the Sea Gulls by defeating Myers and Nicholson came from one set down to defeat Glidewell just minutes later.

Salisbury improves to 9-2 overall while the Captains fall to 6-3. CNU returns to action Wednesday as they host USA South rival Shenandoah on the CNU Courts with start time set for 4 pm.
