Men's Tennis Sweeps Shenandoah, 9-0

BURLINGTON, NC - Christopher Newport's men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the USA South Conference Tournament by sweeping Shenandoah 9-0 Friday morning.

In singles play, No. 15 (Atlantic South) John Mook (CNU) defeated Andy Torrealba 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1; No. 17 Eddie Glidewell (CNU) defeated Cody Jarrell 6-0, 6-0; Dylan Young (CNU) defeated John Murray 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3; Steve Myers (CNU) defeated Travis Dohm 6-0, 6-0; David Weiner (CNU) defeated Evan Lowery 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Chris Scott (CNU) defeated Matt Martinez 8-5.

In doubles action, No. 8 Glidewell and Mook (CNU) defeated Murray and Torrealba 8-0; John Braig and Myers (CNU) defeated Dohm and Jarrell 8-1 at No. 2; and Weiner and Young (CNU) defeated Lowery and Martinez 8-1.

The Captains improve to 13-7 overall while Shenandoah finishes the year 3-13. Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday as they take on Methodist at 9 am.
