Fairchild Named USA South Pitcher of the Year, Parr Named Coach Of The Year, Seven Others Named All-Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Pitcher Janet Fairchild was named the USA South's Pitcher of the Year while Head Coach Keith Parr was named Coach of the Year and seven other players were named to the USA South's All-Conference squad, the USA South announced Wednesday.

Fairchild finished the regular season with a record of 13-1 and a 1.42 ERA. She has struck out 57 in 88 innings pitched.

Parr led his squad to a USA South regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming USA South Conference Tournament. It's the second time in his four seasons that he has received Coach of the Year honors.

Earning First Team honors were catcher Margit Severin, designated player Lauren Pleveich, outfielder Becky Bond and Fairchild.

Severin is second on the team with a .434 batting average. She leads the team with 38 RBI and 14 doubles and has totaled 46 hits and 20 runs scored. She's also second on the team with three home runs.

Pleveich is hitting .381 with a team-high five home runs. She also has 32 RBI, 40 hits and 17 runs scored.

Bond is hitting .308 with 20 hits and 13 runs driven in.

Earning Second Team honors was second baseman Katie Moyers. Moyers is hitting .423 with 44 hits and 35 runs scored. She has also driven in 23 runs.

Shortstop Mary Kennedy, outfielder Mia Johnson and pitcher Kristen Rowe were named Honorable Mention All-USA South.

Kennedy leads the team with a .443 average, 54 hits, 37 runs and 26 steals in as many opportunities. Johnson is hitting .321 with 25 hits and 14 runs scored. She has also belted one home run and driven in 15 runs.

Rowe has had an outstanding freshman campaign. She has totaled 14 saves setting a new single season record for the most saves in a season in any division (I, II, III). She is 2-2 on the year with a 0.88 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.
