Two Softball Players Named To NFCA All-Region Team

STARKVILLE, MS - Two Christopher Newport softball players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Atlantic Region team, the NFCA announced.

Catcher Margit Severin was named First Team All-Region. The junior, who was an at-large selection, leads the team in hitting as it heads in the NCAA Tournament with a .450 average. She has 52 hits, 22 runs scored, and she leads the team in doubles (16), RBI (42) and walks (18). Severin was also a First Team All-USA South pick.

Freshman Lauren Pleveich was named Second Team All-Region. The team's primary designated player is hitting .372 with 42 hits and 17 runs scored. She leads the team with five home runs and has driven in 33 runs. Pleveich was also a First Team All-Conference pick.

The Lady Captains take on the defending national champion Rutgers-Camden on day one of the Fayetteville, NC regional hosted by Methodist on Thursday at 2 pm. The game will be broadcasted live on Captains Sports Live.
