Women's Tennis Picked To Finish First In 2007 USA South Preseason Poll
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Christopher Newport's women's tennis team was picked to finish first in the 2007 USA South Preseason poll released Wednesday.
The Lady Captains, under the direction of Head Coach Jenny Nuttycombe, finished 16-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. CNU captured the conference tournament championship, the second ever in program history. Christopher Newport finished the year setting school records for wins in a season and the best winning percentage in program history.
CNU received six first place votes and 48 points. Methodist, last season's regular season champion, received two first place votes and 44 points.
The Lady Captains open the 2007 season on Sunday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Chowan with start time set for 1 pm.
