Women's Tennis Rolls Past St. Mary's (MD), 8-1
NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's tennis team remained undefeated Wednesday with an 8-1 win over St. Mary's (MD) on the CNU Courts.
In doubles play, Lindsey Pantele and Stefanie Leblang (CNU) defeated
Sarah Weisse and Jessica Peterson 8-1 at No. 1; Frannie Shivar and Brittany Stevens (CNU) defeated Sarah Pernick and Michelle Compton 8-4; and Kelly Clay and Chandler Long
(CNU) defeated Amanda Collins and Jerilyn Rogalski 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles action, Pantele (CNU) defeated Weisse 6-1, 6-0; Leblang
(CNU) defeated Compton 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2; Shivar (CNU) defeated Peterson 6-1, 6-1; Pernick defeated Stevens (CNU) 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4; Thedford (CNU) defeated Collins 6-1, 6-3; and Long (CNU) defeated
Katherine Gerlock 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
St. Mary's falls to 0-2 on the year while CNU improves to 4-0. The Lady Captains return to action Friday as they host Piedmont on the CNU Courts with start time set for 1 pm.
