Women's Tennis Rolls Past NC Wesleyan, 9-0
ROCKY MOUNT, NC - Christopher Newport's women's tennis squad swept NC Wesleyan 9-0 Wednesday afternoon.
In doubles play, Lindsey Pantele and Stefanie Leblang (CNU) defeated Jenna
Gollub and Kayla Miller 8-4 at No. 1; Frannie Shivar and Brittany
Stevens (CNU) defeated Ashley Ball and Brooke Lashley 1-0,
retired; Chandler Long and Kelly Clay (CNU) defeated Kaite
Bright and Crystal Lashley 8-1 at No. 3
In singles competition, Pantele (CNU) defeated
Gollub 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1; Leblang (CNU) defeated Miller 6-0, 6-0; Shivar (CNU) defeated
Ball 1-0, retired at No. 3; Stevens (CNU) defeated B. Lashley 6-0,
6-0; Liz Thedford (CNU) defeated Bright 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5; and Long (CNU) defeated C.
Lashley 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Captains improve to 13-0 on the year and 2-0 in the USA South. The Bishops fall to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday as they travel to Shenandoah with start time set for 1 pm.
