Women's Tennis Rolls Past Greensboro, 8-1

GREENSBORO, NC - Christopher Newport's women's tennis team defeated Greensboro 8-1 Friday afternoon to move one step closer to clinching the USA South regular season title.

The Lady Captains go for the outright championship as they host Averett on the CNU Courts with start time set for 12 pm.

In singles competition, No. 12 (Atlantic South) Carrie Pacifico defeated No. 46 Lindsey Pantele (CNU) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1; Stefanie Leblang (CNU) defeated Susan Harris 6-1, 6-1; Frannie Shivar (CNU) defeated Caroline Rose 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3; Brittany Stevens (CNU) defeated Michelle Lemmons 6-3, 6-4; Adele BIllings (CNU) defeated Elizabeth Nichols 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Chandler Long (CNU) defeated Crystal DiBella 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, No. 35 Leblang and Pantele (CNU) defeated Pacifico and Harris 8-3; Shivar and Stevens (CNU) defeated Rose and Nichols 8-0 at No. 2; and Liz Thedford and Long (CNU) defeated Collins Anderson and Lemmons, 8-1.

Greensboro falls to 5-8 overall and 4-3 in the USA South. Christopher Newport improves to 17-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
