WOMEN’S SOCCER CLINCHES REGULAR SEASON CONFERENCE TITLE WITH 1-0 DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN AT CHOWAN

MURFREESBORO, NC – CNU’s women’s soccer team defeated Chowan 1-0 Friday afternoon in double overtime and clinched the regular season Dixie Conference title.

With the win, the Lady Captains will host the 2002 Dixie Conference Tournament at Captains Field held on November 8-9.

Shelley Rusnak scored the game’s only goal with nine seconds left in the second overtime.

The Lady Captains out shot Chowan 43-14.

Sarah Fortier had seven saves in goal.

CNU is now 11-3-1 overall and 6-0 in the Dixie Conference.
