Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science

"The scientific mind does not so much provide the right answers
as ask the right questions."
Claude Levi-Strauss

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science (BCES) is a professional but laid back department known for the quality of our coursework and the close working relationships we develop with our students.

Our building is full of light and space. The department has 14 laboratories and 23 support areas as well as three walk in controlled-environment chambers and a greenhouse.

We enjoy frequent social gatherings in an atmosphere where students and faculty become coworkers and friends. But in the process, quality learning takes place; it is education based on experience and discoveryCourse highlights >

Whether you prefer beaches and sand, frosty snow, or labs and test tubes, BCES has a research opportunity for everyone. We encourage students not to just hear about science but to actually go out and do it. You will gain valuable experience and insight into your field.  Don't wait to explore the possibilities.
