Allen R. Jones, Jr. is a Licensed Physical Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Jones, owner, and CEO of Dominion Physical Therapy, earned his degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1987 and holds a postgraduate certification in Clinical Management of Head, Facial and Neck Pain and TMJ Disorders from the American Academy of Head, Facial and Neck Pain and TMJ Orthopedics. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1988. Jones is also certified in ergonomics and holds a number of other certifications. He started Dominion Physical Therapy with one office and two employees with a goal of combining high quality therapy with superior customer service in a warm and friendly environment.

Over the last two decades, that mission has helped him expand the practice to include seven locations and more than 40 employees. Dominion Physical Therapy offices, one of which is dedicated exclusively to the rehabilitative needs of pediatric patients, are now located in Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Portsmouth, and Norfolk. Each is staffed by highly-trained and licensed therapists and therapy assistants.

Jones has worked hard, since settling in Virginia in 1987, to foster a spirit of community involvement, setting the example himself through his own active volunteerism. Jones is a member of the Norfolk State University Foundation Board, and the Virginia Living Museum Advisory Board, as well as the Advisory Board for Christopher Newport University's School of Business. He is also a Board Member of Hampton Roads Academy and is a director and charter member of Virginia Company Bank, and past Board Chair for the City of Newport News Industrial Development Authority and past board member of the Mariners' Museum.

Jones was the recipient of the Urban League's A. Phillip Randolph Award in 2001 and was named Trailblazer of the Year by 100 Black Men of America, Virginia Peninsula Chapter, in 2005. In addition, he has received a number of gubernatorial appointments, including appointment to the Public Broadcasting Board and designation as Commissioner of the Virginia Port Authority. He is active in his church, the Boule, Norfolk Guardsmen, and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and sits on the board of the James River Country Club.

"This is very much a community-based organization," says Jones. And the community has responded to that attitude and the practice's professionalism. In 2009, Dominion Physical Therapy received the Daily Press Choice Award - a reader's choice poll - with the most votes in the overall Health and Fitness category and in 2011, the VCIC selected Allen for the Humanitarian Award for his service to others.

He is a father of four and married to Hampton, VA native Gail Boyd Jones, who is a Physical Therapy Assistant and works in the practice.
