Profile:  Ronnie Cohen is a Professor of Business Law  in the Luter School of Business. Her areas of research are critical legal studies as applied to corporate law, and law and emotion.  Her co-authored article, with Professor Shannon O'Byrne of the University of Alberta, entitled Cry Me a River: Recovery of Mental Distress Damages in a Breach of Contract Action, A North American Perspective, published in the American Business law Journal, was cited by the Canadian Supreme Court in the case Fidler v. Sun Asssurance Co. in 2006. Professor Cohen also collaborated with the CNU Music Department to develop a course in business law for musicians. She received her BA degree from Kirkland College in New York and her J.D. and LL.M. (taxation) degrees from The Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, in Virginia.  Prior to joining the faculty at Christopher Newport, Professor Cohen practiced law with the Legal Aid Society of the Roanoke Valley, and Bennett & Cohen, Inc.
