Profile: William (Willy) Donaldson is a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business at Christopher Newport University. He teaches the senior capstone Strategic Management course as well as Operations Management. He has developed and delivered management courses for William & Mary's Executive MBA program, the American Management Association, Aileron, and numerous corporate universities. He is the author of "The New Employer-Employee Contract: A CEO’s Perspective on Employer and Employee Success," published in Keys to Employee Success in Coming Decades (Quorum Books, 1999).
Willy has over 25 years of experience as a board member and president and has been CEO of 8 companies. He has directly run 4 start-ups, put his own money at risk in 4 more, and been involved in starting over 12 other companies. He has raised in excess of $90 million dollars for these entities in the public and private equity and debt markets.
In addition to teaching, Willy is the founder and president of Strategic Venture Planning, a management consulting firm that assists boards, investors and senior management teams to maximize results. As a consultant and trainer he has worked with over 40 companies on strategy formulation, on converting strategy to execution, and on management development. His experience runs from start-up to International 50 companies, private and public companies, from services to manufacturing, from low to high tech, and from for profit to not for profit. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a member of the Family Firm Institute.
