Management Major

Are you passionate about people and processes? Are you a creative problem solver? Do you envision yourself as a leader? A major in management can help you develop the skills and acquire the tools that will enable you to pull people and projects together in an efficient and effective manner, thereby contributing to the success of your organization.

Management is a very popular major at CNU, and the largest in The Luter School of Business. It offers the greatest flexibility and broadest application of the business majors, incorporating all the other disciplines in a liberal learning environment. This interdisciplinary program includes accounting, finance, human resources, economics, law, operations, leadership, marketing, logistics, and information technology.

As a management major you will learn to use critical thinking and analytical skills to make decisions and take action when facing a novel, complex problem. You will learn to lead, plan and organize; express your ideas clearly; and embrace diversity in a changing workforce. Through the management curriculum you will cultivate people skills to help navigate the global world you will encounter. An emphasis on ethical standards is an integral part of every course.

In the Luter School of Business, a management education is not acquired solely in the classroom – we offer a multitude of opportunities for students to learn by doing, with a special emphasis on teams. Student teams manage virtual companies using on-line simulations in which they apply business principles to make decisions about a future course of action; they analyze companies and develop business strategies; and they develop multi-media presentations in which they share their research on business leaders. Individual students also have the opportunity to engage in internships, mentorships, study abroad programs, and independent study.

  • MANAGEMENT CAREER PATHS

The management major may lead to a wide variety of careers, including positions in human resources, consulting, operations planning, supply chain management, purchasing, logistics, and contract management.

CNU management alumni have gone on to careers with Ferguson Enterprises, Northrop Grumman, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Dominion Virginia Power, the Department of Defense, and Carahsoft, among others.
