When to call 911
Call Campus Police: 594-7777 for 911
(Campus Police will direct EMT to the correct location)
If victim is unconscious, call Campus Police for 911 immediately.
Sometimes a conscious victim will tell you not to call an ambulance, and you may not be sure what to do. If this happens to you, follow these simple guidelines:
Always call Campus Police for 911 if someone shows any of these conditions:
- trouble breathing or is breathing in a strange way
- chest pain or pressure
- severe bleeding
- pressure or pain in the abdomen that does not go away
- vomiting or passing of blood
- seizures, a severe headache or slurred speech
- appears to have been poisoned
- injuries to the head, neck or back
- possible broken bones
Also call Campus Police for 911 for any of these situations:
- Fire or explosion
- Downed electrical wires
- Presence of poisonous gas
- Victims who cannot be moved easily
