Hillary Walter, a CNU graduate, has been the manager of Captain's since 2005. She
has touched the lives of both the student workers she supervises and the customers she serves with her energetic
and friendly personality. Hillary's stunning leadership and service skills has made Captain's Cafe one of the
greatest places to eat on campus. Hillary is constantly coming up with new and exciting menu innovations and
promotions to provide our students with an exceptional dining experience.
Lisa Taliafero was recruited by CNU Dining Services in August 2003 as a supervisor for Catering
Services. A former manager of Carmela's Pizza Cafe in Hampton, VA, Lisa's knowledge of food service and
customer service made her transition into the manager of Einstein's an easy one in December of 2004.
Lisa's compassion and genuine personal investment in our students is incomparable. Lisa keeps students coming
back to Einstein's not just for the great coffee, but also because of Lisa's heartwarming and caring nature
that she passes on to her student workers and the customers she loves to see.
Anthony Augustine, a graduate of Old Dominion University, joined the Christopher Newport
University Dining Services team in February of 2005. Prior to becoming a manager at Discovery Cafe,
Anthony served as a food services manager at Fazoili's Pizza, Spaghetti Warehouse, and
The Omni Hotel. In addition, Anthony has had several years experience with the Norfolk Public School
System managing eighteen cafeterias. Anthony thoroughly enjoys interacting and serving the entire CNU
Community on a daily basis.
Since joining the CNU Family in 2000, Miss Linda has become the face of CNU's Dining
Services. Miss Linda has touched the lives of almost every member of the CNU community and continues
to provide outstanding customer care and service. Any student on our campus will tell you that Miss Linda
is a vital part of the CNU famiy who goes far beyond the call of duty to make each student feel special
and at home.
In 2006 Miss Linda received a special recognition of outstanding service from CNU's
President, the honorable Paul S. Trible, during an annual Faculty / Staff Town Hall Meeting. Miss Linda
received a standing ovation at the meeting.
Wilnice Hicks joined the Dining team in 1997 as the Fiscal Technician for Dining Services.
Her experience as an Office Manager at the Hampton University Nursing Center provided her exceptional leadership
and management skills which quickly led to her promotion to Assistant Student Center Dining Manager in 2001 and
then to Student Center Dining Manager shortly thereafter. Wilnice's outstanding customer service skills led to her
invitation to be a Lead Trainer for the Customer Service Training program that all University employees were
required to attend in 2005.
Before joining the family of Christopher Newport University in the Fall of 2001, June Miles held
the full time job of raising four children while attending culinary school in New York and working in various food
service venues. Having been a former Parent Teacher Association (PTA) President, June has a special understanding
and commitment to our students.
Executive Chef Erika Nestler, a graduate of Johnson & Whales University, joined the
CNU family in 2005 bringing with her an abundance of new ideas and culinary mastery. Aside from producing
breath-takingly elegant meals for special events and reception, Erika has worked diligently with the rest of
the Dining Services team to expand the vegan and vegetarian meal options for our students.
Erika's extensive experience has led to the impressive expansion of menu options
offered by CNU's Catering Services for special events, banquets, and meetings.
Erika is also a member of the American Culinary Federation, the President of the
Tidewater Chefs Association, and a local board member of Careers for Culinary Arts Professionals.
Barry joined the CNU family in 1988 eager and fully prepared to contribute his experience
and expertise to CNU. Barry's commitment to CNU has culminated in his ascension to Manager of The
Commons. Barry and his extraordinary staff consistently provide superior meals, leadership, and friendship
to every Common's visitor.
