"Great Beginnings"
The opening season for the Ferguson Center for the Arts offers something for everyone with its line up of events. From one of the world’s premiere chamber orchestras to the New Shanghai Circus, the Ferguson Center will provide world-class performances of all genres.

Captain Christopher Newport on the Silver Screen
New Line Cinema has announced the making of a historical epic, "The New World." The movie tells the story of the clash between European explorers and Native Americans in 17th century Jamestown, Virginia. Actor Colin Farrell will play John Smith and Christopher Plummer has signed up to play Captain Christopher Newport. Release of the movie is scheduled for 2005.

Hollywood Calls on CNU Talents
Dr. Kathleen Joyce-Grendahl, adjunct professor of Music, was hired to teach Native American flute to the actors in the upcoming movie "The New World."

Researching Captain Christopher Newport
Director of Theater Steven Breese visits London to further his research on the seafaring privateer and University namesake Captain Christopher Newport. Breese, a member of the CNU Jamestown 2007 steering committee, will use his research to write a stage play to be performed by TheaterCNU students in the spring of 2007. Read more.

Kristen Conques, was named Second Team All-State College Division Lacrosse

The team is selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Conques led CNU to a USA South Regular Season Co-Championship with 28 goals and 37 points.

The LifeLong Learning Society is a membership organization dedicated to persons of retirement age who seek opportunities for learning in an environment of sharing and fellowship. Classes start in September.
