Laura Silvester: A Semester In Prague

These photographs, all held close to my heart, document some of the most beautiful things I
saw during my time traveling in Europe. Although I can safely say that this time was one of the
hardest times of my life, I would never have changed any of it. Through homesickness, recurring
strep throat, living where they do not speak your language, eating foreign foods, struggling with
academics, and trying to see as much of the world as possible in such a short time period, I
matured in many ways. Prague was the most beautiful city in the world and taught me more
about myself than I could have ever learned from seeing the world. This foreign and challenging
environment nurtured my artistic growth. Making art was one of the things most familiar to me
here. I had the chance to visit five different nations during my nearly four month stay, where I
chose to express myself through taking digital photographs. I experimented with camera
settings, lighting, exposure times, f-stops and then manipulation with Adobe Photoshop. I am
pleased with the results of my efforts, with a variety of different fun, and beautiful photos. The
works I included were carefully selected from a large body of works that I built, half coming from
my work creating an alphabet book for Computer Art II, and the second half, a selection of my
favorite photographs taken throughout my travels.

Applications for a Cybergallery exhibit are accepted twice a year, at specified deadlines.
