MASTERS OF ARTS IN TEACHING
Many ArtCNU majors participate in the University's
Masters of Arts in Teaching, a 5-year Master's program that has
met with unparalled success.

MAT Students and Professor Maggie Bowen (in green)
Students who enter CNU and wish to become teachers enroll in a five year program. Students major in a content area, such as English or biology, and receive a bachelor's degree in liberal arts or science at the end of four years of study. The fifth year includes professional courses at the graduate level, ending in a semester of student teaching.
Students who already have a bachelor's degree can enroll in a 36-hour master's plus licensure program or a licensure only program.
Areas for licensure include: Elementary (PK-6); Art (PK-12); Biology (6-12); Computer Science (6-12); English (6-12); French (PK-12); History and Social Science (6-12); Mathematics (6-12); Music, Choral or Instrumental (PK-12); Physics (6-12); Spanish (PK-12); and Theater (PK-12).
Earning a graduate degree adds an additional $2000-$3500 to your intital salary schedule.
For students enrolled in CNU, the graduate degree is earned in only one extra year, instead of the two years frequently required for a master's degree.
What are some other benefits of the CNU Teacher Preparation Program?
