Pi Sigma Alpha
The National Political Science Honor Society

Pi Sigma Alpha was founded in 1920 at the University of Texas as the national honor society for undergraduate and graduate Political Science students.  It has over 600 chapters across the United States. 

Benefits of membership in Pi Sigma Alpha include:

  • Scholarship opportunities for graduate programs, the Washington semester and Best Papers awards.
  • Members can apply for federal government positions listed at a higher entry-level grade than non-member candidates within the United States Office of Personnel Management.
  • The Pi Sigma Alpha National Office will provide letters verifying membership to prospective employers and graduate schools, upon request.
  • Members wear the PSA medallion and honor cord with cap and gown at graduation and on other official occasions.
  • Members receive a certificate of membership and permanent enrollment.

Pi Sigma Alpha applications are due to the Department of Government by February 15.
