Dr. John O. Hyland earned his BA from Cornell University, his MA and PhD from the University of Chicago, and joined the history department as an assistant professor in 2006. His research focuses on diplomatic and military interactions between the ancient Greeks and the Achaemenid Persian empire (c. 550-330 B.C.). He is currently working on his first book, Achaemenid Persia and the Peloponnesian War, which explores Persia's decisive interventions in conflicts between Sparta and Athens. |
