The Department of Leadership and American Studies offers one major and two minors:

The 36-credit hour major in American studies is comprised of four core courses with the remaining courses selected from approved, related courses from various disciplines as determined by the student's chosen concentration in humanities, social sciences or constitutional studies.

Students will work closely with an advisor to ensure their curriculum has coherence, depth, breadth and that it is consistent with the students' future plans. The bachelor of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies requires that students fulfill the liberal learning curriculum, American studies core courses and a concentration in humanities, social sciences or constitutional studies.

The 36-credit hours include:

  • Four American studies core courses - 12-credit hours
PLUS
  • Humanities concentration - 24 credit hours, or
  • Social sciences concentration - 24 credit hours, or
  • Constitutional studies concentration - 24 credit hours

The 18-credit hour minor in leadership studies requires students to complete six courses. Five core courses and a minimum of one elective course comprise the 18 credit hours.
