Genetics, roundworms, nanochemistry, microbes, environmental chemistry! In lab and field, we have a research opportunity for everyone!
Undergrads work closely with faculty, and, because our faculty appreciate the value of learning through experience, the entire outdoors can be your laboratory. We encourage students not to just hear about science, but to actually go out and do it.
Why become involved?
While gaining valuable experience and insight into your field, you will
- enhance your resume,
- get an outstanding letter of recommendation from your supervising faculty, or
- prepare for graduate school.
Molecular Biology and Chemistry (MBCH) has a long history of undergraduate participation in research. It may be as short as a single semester or may last for a year or more and even conclude in a published paper. There are opportunities for participating in either field-based or laboratory-based research.
How do I become involved?
Students interested in participating in research should talk with faculty members whose work is of interest to them. To learn about the research interests of the faculty check out the faculty web pages. You will find research in areas such as water quality testing, analytical chemistry, molecular genetics, microbiology, neuroscience, and many other areas of cellular and molecular biology and chemistry.
Don't wait to explore the possibilities!
