Understanding and following these instructions will help move-in run smoothly for everyone. Please make EVERY effort to arrive during officially designated check-in days and times.

With many students arriving during a short time, move-in is busy yet exciting. We will do our best to move you through the process quickly and efficiently. You may, however, experience some waiting and delays, particularly during peak times (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.

Upper-class and transfer students will move themselves in on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. They should not stop first at the Ferguson Center parking deck as freshmen do. Students are encouraged to bring their own carts, hand-trucks and dollies to aid their move-in. A limited number of moving carts will be available (at James River and Potomac River Halls only) on a first-come, first-served basis.

James River Hall
Check-in will be in the James River Hall lobby. Enter campus by turning onto University Place from Warwick Blvd. Vehicles can be unloaded in the James River Hall traffic circle and adjoining lot designated for unloading only. To allow room for others to unload near the building, parking adjacent to James River Hall will not be permitted until after 8 p.m. Sunday.

Potomac River Hall
Check-in will be in Potomac River South lobby. Vehicles can access Potomac River Hall from Moore’s Lane. Students may move their things in through emergency exist on the back side of the building on August 22 and 23 only.

East Campus: CNU Village, CNU Apartments, Greek Village, Warwick River Suites and CNU Houses
Check in at the East Campus Office now located in Warwick River Suites between CNU Village and the Exxon gas station. To avoid parking problems, CNU Village residents should park in the Village parking deck and walk to the Warwick Suites Office to check in. Residents in Greek Village and CNU Apartments should park in spaces adjacent to
their apartments and walk to the office.

CNU Village and CNU Apartments
Twelve-month contract residents may check in throughout August (Monday-Friday only), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Except for August 22 and 23, check-in is not available on the weekends. Ten-month contract residents may not check in until August 22 and 23 at the East Campus Office.

Unloading Zones

When pulling up to your building to unload, be prepared to move quickly. One person should remain with the vehicle at all times. As soon as the vehicle is unloaded, it must be moved to make room for others. Return borrowed moving carts promptly.

After unpacking, break down boxes, bag trash and remove all debris to designated trash locations. Please do not leave trash in hallways, lounges, stairwells or parking lots.
