Steve Lahr, parent of Brittany '11 and Stephanie '14
When my oldest daughter, Brittany, was accepted to CNU, we really did not know that much about the University. During Setting Sail we had decided to join the Ambassadors. This became the avenue for us to immerse ourselves in the University without infringing on her experience. We also have fallen in love with the school, so much so that our second daughter, Stephanie, is now an incoming freshman.
Sylvia Hutt, parent of Jessica '08 and Parents Ambassadors board member
As a very involved parent prior to Jessica attending CNU, I felt there would be a great void that needed to be filled once she left home. Joining the Parents Ambassadors took care of that void. It has allowed me to be involved on a level that has enriched my life by providing me an opportunity to offer input at the President's level, obtain information firsthand, and partner with other parents as ambassadors for a superb university. I strongly encourage all parents to participate in the Parent Ambassadors and bring your areas of expertise to the table. You will be pleasantly surprised at how well your input will be received. Just as Jessica has grown from her experiences at CNU and has had her "CNU moments," I, too, feel I have grown and have had my own "CNU moments." I am very proud to be associated with such a quality university.
Dub and Janet Dungan, Parents Ambassadors board members, Chairs, Hampton Roads Region
Christopher Newport University has offered our daughter wonderful opportunities to excel and lead, both inside and outside the classroom, including excellent internships. Serving on the Parent Ambassadors Executive Board has given us access to CNU's administration and insight into the future plans for CNU. We truly have a first-class university in our backyard, and we take every opportunity to spread the word!
Greg and Nancy Scott, Vice Chairs, Parent Ambassadors, from Northern Virginia
Christopher Newport University attracts many graduating seniors from Northern Virginia, and our daughter was among those applying for admission to the class of 2011. She made her decision to attend CNU based on the school's size, which is small enough for students to be known yet large enough for expansive educational opportunities and vibrant living, its great facilities, and particularly its enthusiasm. She has never regretted her choice, and neither have we. Come join other active parents from Northern Virginia and beyond by participating in the CNU Parent Ambassadors. As Executive Board members, we welcome you and know you'll enjoy this inviting path to active participation in CNU life.
