All students are welcome to volunteer as experiment participants.
Experiment scheduling is handled through the department’s SONA Research Registration System located at:
In order to register for an experiment timeslot, you must first “Request an account” by clicking on the link on the left-side of the SONA homepage. Once this account is created, you will be able to login and view available timeslots. Additional instructions can be found in the following documents:

Required Participation for PSYC 201 and 202 Students
Students enrolled in PSYC 201 and 202 are required to complete at least one hour's worth of research credit by participating in one or more research studies or by completing a two-page written assignment. Scheduling is handled through the SONA system, described above.
If you have any questions about the research experience requirement, or about the SONA registration and scheduling system, DO NOT ask your instructor. Instead, please contact the Human Participant Pool Committee (HPPC) at the following email address: hppc@cnu.edu.
Alternatives to Research Participation
If you decide that you do not feel comfortable participating in research studies, you may complete a short, research-related written assignment instead. Instructions for this alternative assignment can be found in the following document:
| Alternative Participation Option – Instructions |
IMPORTANT: Even if you elect to complete the written assignment, YOU MUST STILL CREATE A SONA ACCOUNT in order to receive credit for your work.
