Here are a few convenient ways to get transportation to off campus physicians and medical facilities:
- Zipcar - If you are 18 or older you can rent a Zipcar. Cars are kept in lot K behind the DSU, off Shoe Lane. Student can go to the Zipcar website to register and get information on this service.
- A friend - Students will often make arrangements with a friend who has a car.
- HRT - Visit the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) website at www.gohrt.com and check out their easy to use, Google trip planner. Most of the facilities listed on this site are on the Route 112 Schedule.
- Cab - Taxi Services in Newport News
Riverside Health System
The original charter for Riverside dates back to December 15, 1915. The company began as one hospital, founded by the community and built on a site at Huntington Avenue and 50th Street in Newport News, Virginia. In 1962, the hospital was relocated to the present site of Riverside Regional Medical Center in central Newport News. A 570-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsula’s most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. In addition, Riverside Regional includes the region’s only accredited Emergency and Trauma Center.
