How do I register for Setting Sail?
You will be prompted to choose your Setting Sail date through our Admitted Student System. You will also be able to register any parents / guests that want to attend Setting Sail.

What can I expect at Setting Sail?
Students will have their own "track" at Setting Sail and will not be with their parents a majority of the time.  Our program is designed to help transition you to life at CNU and share with you the things you will need to know before you begin classes in the fall.  You will be placed in crews (small groups) receive a Crew Leader who is a current CNU student that will be a great resource for you throughout the day. You will meet some of the Deans, faculty, staff, and  get to know members your class. You also will get your photo taken for your ID and receive your schedule. Be prepared to learn a lot and have a lot of FUN doing it!

Do I have to stay the entire time?
Our program runs a day and a half and it is very important that you attend the entire program so you can get the things you need for the fall such as your schedule, student ID picture, and much more! 

What is the $500 Enrollment Fee?
The $500 enrollment fee is mandatory for all incoming freshmen. It is used to cover costs of various programs, including orientation, and confirms your acceptance to CNU.

Do my parents/guests have to pay?
If parents or guests will be attending the Setting Sail program, there is a $50 fee PER guest fee. This fee covers program costs and meals. All guests will be registered through the Admitted Student System and will be charged at the time they register. If the student has already completed their registration, simply log back into the system with the email address and password that was created. Modifications can be made to the guest registration. Our program is designed with a student track and a parent/guardian track therefore small children are discouraged from attending. 

Do PLP students have to attend both Setting Sail AND the Summer Leadership Adventure Program?
Yes, PLP students attend both Setting Sail and Summer Leadership Adventure Program. PLP students choose Session I or Session III to attend. Summer Leadership Adventure will begin immediately following Setting Sail:

- Setting Sail Session I: June 18 -19 and Summer Leadership Adventure: June 19-22 
- Setting Sail Session III: June 25-26 and Summer Leadership Adventure: June 26-29

**Your enrollment fee covers the costs of Leadership Adventure.
**There is no parent program during Leadership Adventure

Will I meet with my advisor during Setting Sail?
You will get a Core Advisor after Setting Sail. Your Core Advisor will contact you over the summer and then meet with you during Welcome Week in August. They will meet with you several times throughout the semester and assist you in your academic success.

Do you provide housing accommodations during Setting Sail?
All students, including those who will be commuter students, will be housed on campus as part of the Setting Sail program. You will need to bring your own bedding and pillows for their stay. (You will receive a complete “What To Bring” list as your orientation date approaches.) We do not offer on-campus accommodations for guests but have hotel information for you. 

Are commuter students required to stay on campus during Setting Sail?
Yes, all students (including those who will be commuter students) are required to stay overnight in the residence halls during Setting Sail.

Do I need a parking pass for orientation?
No, our parking lots will be open for visitors during our orientation sessions. However, be sure to avoid parking in reserved and handicapped spaces unless you have a pass or decal. If you will be having a car on campus during the academic year, you will need to purchase a parking decal for your car.

What if I cannot attend any of the available orientation dates?
Setting Sail is a mandatory and a very important program designed to assist you as you transition to life as a CNU Captain. If you are unable to attend then you must notify us to receive an exemption from the program.  Please contact us by email at: orientation@cnu.edu with details about your schedule and conflicts. These requests will be considered on an individual basis. Once we receive the information, a decision will be made as to whether or not you will be exempted from the program.

Can I get a refund for my enrollment fee?
- Students  requesting a refund of their enrollment fee before March 15 will receive $450.
- Students requesting a refund of their enrollment fee after March 15 and prior to their Setting Sail date will receive $300.- Students requesting a refund of their enrollment fee after their selected Setting Sail date and prior to June 30 will receive $100. 
- No refunds will be awarded after June 30.

Students that have paid for guests to attend Setting Sail will receive a full refund of the guest fees if requested prior to their Setting Sail session.
