Kim Roeder is not only the Director of Student Activities at Christopher Newport University, but also a CNU alum. (B.A. ‘90) Her responsibilities include working with clubs and organizations, as well as overseeing social and educational programming and leadership development. In addition to her degree from CNU, Kim obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. She brings over 16 years in experience in higher education to her role as Director of Student Activities. What she enjoys most about her work in student activities is “helping students achieve personal and organizational success.”

Kathleen is new to the CNU community and is excited to learn more about CNU and the Newport News area. She joins us after finishing her Master's Degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she was the Graduate Assistant for the student programming board, TEN.
Kathleen loves Student Affairs because she loves working with students and enjoys seeing them grow and make the most out of their time in college. She graduated from James Madison University and is still actively involved with the alumni chapter. While not at work, Kathleen enjoys traveling and anything outdoors!

Leah Dooley Eickhoff is the Assistant Director of Student Activities for Greek Life. Prior to coming to CNU last year, Leah was the Assistant Director of Student Activities (2003-2004) and the Director of Greek Life at the Illinois Institute of Technology (2004-2006). She still enjoys serving as a national volunteer for her sorority.
Leah loves working in Student Activities because of the amazing opportunity it provides to work with students as they find ways to make the most of their years in college. Leah made the most of her college years by serving as the female mascot for alma mater, Truman State University, as well as holding numerous leadership positions in various organizations. Leah believes that fraternity and sorority involvement is a wonderful way to help students discover who they are through a values-based environment.

Reggie Holmes:

Reggie Holmes is the graphic designer in the Office of Student Activities. His duties include designing the publications, forms, and advertisements that are produced for the office, as well as designing and posting plasma screen announcements and maintaining the department website.
Reggie is a native of Richmond, VA who did his undergraduate work at the University of Miami (FL). He obtained a BFA in graphic design in 2004. Since graduating he has worked as a teller and a designer for a t-shirt company. Reggie points to "being able to contribute to the vitality of campus life" as one of the best aspects of his job in Student Activities. |

Michelle Reed:

Michelle Reed is the one to see when it comes to money matters. She helps to ensure funds awarded to student organizations are allocated and accessed in ways that are consistent with university and state fiscal policies. She also serves a liaison between club officers and the university business office.
Michelle has worked in the accounting field for nearly seventeen years in both the public and private sectors. She received her A.A.S. degree in Accounting from TNCC in 1996. Michelle enjoys taking personal interest courses at CNU when her schedule allows. She values her role in helping CNU students learn and exercise sound fiscal responsibility. |

Pam Laven :

Pam is the newest member to the Student Activities office, having joined us in August of 2008 as the Senior Secretary to the staff. Originally from Minnesota, Pam has over 20 plus years experience working within the educational system. She began as the assistant to the Headmaster of an all girls’ prep school in Honolulu, Hawaii. When she returned to Minnesota she was one of the assistants in the Chancellor’s office at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities in St. Paul.
Most recently she worked with Student Affairs at Western Colorado Community College in Grand Junction, Colorado. She enjoys seeing students pursue their dreams and goals and always tries to encourage them in their endeavors. She is looking forward to a new view of college life in her position in Student Activities. |

Mike joined the Student Activities Office this August as the graduate assistant to programming. He is currently working on his master’s degree in Higher Education at Old Dominion University. This past May Mike graduated from Averett University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Leadership Studies. Prior to that Mike was born and raised in Virginia Beach graduating from Salem High School. He loves to work in student activities because of how important the activities office is to completing a student’s college experience. When not in the office, Mike loves to play baseball, golf, or sit around watching movies. |
