We are pleased to announce our upcoming auditions for theater scholarships at Christopher Newport University. These auditions/interviews are open to all interested first year students, however space is limited. All applicants must have applied for admittance to CNU and complete the online Letter of Intent, including G.P.A, and S.A.T. (or) A.C.T. scores. You are also required to indicate your intended concentration: Acting, Musical Theater or Design/Tech.

Applicants must bring to the audition:
1. A current resume
2. A copy of your most recent transcripts

Audition/interview times will be assigned by TheaterCNU with each audition/interview lasting approximately 10 minutes. Exact audition/interview order will be determained on the day of the audition.

Requirements for Acting Candidates
1. One contemporary monologue
2. One classical monologue of contrasting style
3. Combined length must not exceed 3 minutes

Requirements for Musical Theater Candidates:
1. One 1-2 minute monologue
2. Two songs, 32 bars of each, from contemporary musical theater (after 1950).
3. One selection should be an up-tempo piece, the other a ballad
4. Bring musical accompaniment on C/D or cassette; a pianist will not be provided

Requirements for Design/Tech Candidates: (March 21, 2009 ONLY)

Please bring a portfolio or other examples of your work and be prepared for a 5-10 minute interview with members of our faculty.
