SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION DAY
Saturday, January 28, & Saturday, February 4, 2012
Bring your very best to Christopher Newport University. Auditions/interviews are open to all first year students interested in pursuing Theater as a major. You must apply for admittance to CNU prior to registering.
- Complete the Letter of Intent
- Contact Prof. Lloyd by email at glloyd@cnu.edu.
In the email: your name, contact number, identify yourself as an acting, musical-theater/dance or design/tech candidate.
Applicants must bring to the audition:
- A current resume
- Most recent transcripts
Audition / interview times will be assigned by TheaterCNU with each audition / interview lasting approximately 10 minutes. Exact audition/interview order will be determined on the day of the audition.
Requirements for Acting Candidates
- One dramatic monologue
- One comedic monologue
- Combined length must not exceed 3 minutes
Requirements for Musical-Theater / Dance Candidates
- One 60-90 second monologue
- Two songs, 16-32 bars of each, from musical theater. One up-tempo, one ballad.
- Bring musical accompaniment on CD or iPod a pianist will not be provided.
- Participate in Dance Call. (Optional).
- A three minute dance routine will be taught by our faculty.
- Wear: black pants or jazz shorts with tights. Leotard, jazz top or form fitted t-shirt. Jazz shoes.
Requirements for Design / Tech Candidates
Present a portfolio or other examples of your work and be prepared for a 5-10 minute interview with members of our faculty.
