Scholarships Declaring theater as your major
We welcome your interest in the Department of Theater & dacne and invite you to explore our dynamic, diverse and energetic program. You could not pick a more exciting, vital time to study theater at CNU. If you are seriously interested in studying this intriguing art form and becoming a Theater Major, we ask that you take a few minutes and fill out the online "Letter of Intent."

You should know at the outset that our program is rigorous.  Our students practice professionalism-ours is a program run by professionals therefore we expect our students to respect the art and one another.

The program believes in professional training within a liberal arts environment.  Our program or study provides great opportunities for our students to practice the art of theater at a very high level.  However, due to our specific academic and artistic "tracks" we do not require an audition or portfolio review for acceptance.  Only after declaring your major (and track) do we begin our assessment procedures.  Although this frequently occurs in the first year, we will not begin serious assessment of your progress/skills/potential until the second year.

Master of Arts in Teaching: Master of Arts in Teaching

The purpose of formal education and training in the theater is not to impart a neatly packaged body of knowledge and complete set of skills, but rather to help students build a strong foundation from which to launch a lifetime of artistic exploration and personal discovery. This foundation requires the development of the intellectual, physical, emotional and imaginative tools of the complete artist/scholar.

We, in the Department. of Theater & Dance, have passion for the work we do.  Both faculty and students are energetic and driven to bring the very best to our classrooms and stages.  In short, CNU is a great place to go to school and to study the art of theater.  Thank you for you application and I would encourage you contact us with any specific questions. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
